It is time once more to sit down with family, friends and a lot of food to offer thanks for all that we’ve been blessed with over the year.
I hope you all have amazing plans for this Holiday weekend.
We here at the Welty Commons will be doing the same so the Commons will be closed Thursday November 25th through Sunday 28th. We will be open for our usual business hours Monday 29th, 7am till 4pm.

Gear Up for the 4th Annual Jackson Arts Collective Fall Showcase

Its been a quiet start to the week so far here at the Commons. However, I like to think that is because we are revving up for the awesome event going on this Saturday! We will be hosting the fourth annual Jackson Arts Collective Fall Showcase and I’ll tell you, it will be a party.

With nearly thirty visual artists, ten bands, various dance groups, lots of poets and a comedy group I know you’ll find quite a few things to keep you entertained. Many of our best local eateries will supply the food too. It kicks off at 5pm and goes till midnight here at the Commons (719 N. Congress St.). We’ll have a couple cash bars and I’ll be in the coffee shop to get you your caffeine fix.

The more the merrier so bring your friends and family. The best part? This shindig is only five dollars to get in! Not such a bad deal for the quality of entertainment and food.

In honor of Columbus Day Congress St. Coffee and Tattered Pages Bookstore at the Commons at Eudora Welty’s Birthplace will be closed. We will be open for our normal hours, 7 am till 4 pm, on Tuesday October 12th. We are always very grateful for your continued support and patronage and we look forward to seeing you soon.

Stop by and look through our nice selection of used books while you enjoy our signature fall drink, the Pumpkin Patch Spiced Latte. We also have some great fruit smoothies like the Peaches, Pears and Apricot smoothie, the Blueberry Banana smoothie and the good old Strawberry smoothie. These are made from 100% real fruit and are a great way to brighten your day.

Open Mic Poetry Night

Its that time again. Stop on by Congress St. Coffee and Tattered Pages Bookstore tonight starting at 6:30 for our Open Mic Poetry Night. It should promise to be a relaxing evening with plenty of time to read your own work as well as listen to the works of others. Don’t forget we have some refreshing iced coffee in the cafe as well as fruit smoothies, whirls and most any other coffee related drink you can think of. We’ve got a great used bookstore upstairs as well so take a moment to browse our shelves.
